One person has died and hundreds of Mombasa County residents marooned following heavy flooding in the area. The floods followed heavy rains that pounded the area Saturday night. The floods disrupted transport to and from Mombasa Island. And as sally Mbilu reports, the rains came just days after the weatherman issued an alert of likely flooding.

Heavy rains have continued pounding Mombasa county for the third day running flooding most roads and residential estates. The residents accuse the county government on neglecting the drainage systems in the area. Motorists are having a rough time to maneuver as the water levels continue to rise.

Motorists and commuters were stuck in traffic on Thursday evening after heavy rains hit Nairobi. Parts of the CBD including Kenyatta Avenue, and Ojijo Road in Westlands were flooded, forcing pedestrians to wade through to get to different parts of town.
